These may include cottages that have facilities suitable for children, couples or just for a group of like minded holidaymakers.  In Kenya, Men and women alike will normally have a group mainly referred to as chama that save money together for holiday purposes and will usually undertake the holidays at the best suited time of the year.

Rural Retreats during School Holidays

In Kenya, the school holidays are in April, August and December for schools within the Kenyan education system.   However the case is different for the UK based schools.  In 2012, UK School holidays dates entail the February half term, Easter holiday that takes place starting 31st March to 15th April while the Summer half term take place between 2nd June to 10th June and the summer holiday starting on 24th July to 30th August 2012.  It is important for parents that intend to take holidays during the school holidays to keep in mind the dates when children are on a break.

It is advisable to include your children’s school holidays ideas hence making the holiday a memorable one for the children.  Seeing that a majority of the holiday cottages are located within the rural areas, activities that will engage the children during the holiday must also be considered.rural retreat

Countryside holidays can be very memorable especially for the urban based children that may not have heard the chance of visiting the countryside.  In Kenya, rural holidays are one the most ideal for a majority of families.  Children get a chance to visit family and friends and it is considered to way cheaper than visiting locations away from their rural homes.

That’s not to say that Kenyans do not engage in local tourism.  On the contrary a majority of Kenyans will save up to enjoy the vast beauty of their own country.
