Nairobi is a city may not be considered to have lots of wildlife attractions, compared to other areas across the country.  However, the city boast of several wildlife attractions with the most unique attraction being the National park a uniqueness that sets Nairobi as the only city in the world that has a national park in a city. One can explore the city through several other activities.  We highlight the various attractions that travellers can enjoy while the city in the sun.

The Giraffe Centre

Would you like to come as close to a giraffe as well as feed one of the Rothschild’s giraffe? Then the Giraffe centre is your ideal attraction. Located in the Karen area, the centre also has a self-guided walking forest where one can enjoy nature.

Nairobi Animal Orphanage

Get to learn and see and sometimes tough some of the wild animals found in most of Kenya’s park within the orphanage.  Home to injured the orphaned and wildlife, and located close to the National park, the orphanage is an ideal location for tourist. For those that do not have a vehicle to explore the main park, visit the orphanage.  (There are lots of tour companies that offer car hire).

Nairobi National Park

A few minutes’ drives from the central business district (CBD) is the national park.  Here one is treated to the wildlife of Kenya that includes the big fives.  See elephants, lions, baboons, giraffes, Zebras, hyena, buffalo and many more animals in their natural habitat. There are a few picnics sites within the park where one-stop and enjoy a snack within the park.  Ensure that you have a guide to take yours through the park.

Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

Visiting hours within these orphanages is between 11:00 am-12:00 pm.  At Sheldrick Elephant orphanage one gets to see the rehabilitated elephants, see them being feed, see the baby elephants take a mud bath as well get to learn about the orphanage.

Snake Park:  At the Nairobi National Museum, is the Snake Park; here tourist can see several reptile species that include black and green mamba snake, Puff Ander snake, lizards, tortoise fish as well birds.
